Come what may
we know the way

Like many in the fitness industry, the seeds of Miles Beyond were planted in the heart of an elementary school girl, and eventually led Miles Beyond's founder, Taylor to get her running coaching certification.

Growing up playing soccer and having a ton of energy, Taylor's mom signed her up for a brand new program back in 2004 called Girls on the Run, and the rest is history.

While her degree was a BS in Marine Science, running has always been a part of her life; but so had the ocean. When Taylor met her husband Bryan and lived in Hawaii, she became a SCUBA instructor. She found her calling. Helping people.

Moving to Virginia in late 2019 and starting a family raised some problems with being a SCUBA Instructor full time-
and then the world shut down.

In 2021 after having her daughter, she realized her running journey postpartum became bigger than intended and she was working at a local Orangetheory in Chesapeake, VA. So many people, including strangers, started coming to Taylor for running advice, so she decided to go the extra step and get her running coach certification.

What she discovered,
there's more beyond the reef.

We're going the distance.

Taylor Thompson

Our Founder

Hi there! My name is Taylor Thompson and I am so excited to get to know you! If there is something I love more than my family and running- it's helping others achieve their goals and dreams. Have you ever been told you couldn't do something? Well that doesn't exist here. We go miles beyond your dreams and I am ready to help you overcome the physical and emotional part of going the distance!

I started running when I was 10 years old with Girls on the Run back in 2004. I loved the challenge it brought me and continued to run through middle school when Girls on the run then became Girls on Track.

When I went to high school I had to make a big decision to either do cross country or marching band, and I decided to go down the path of marching band. I loved Marching Band and continued it throughout college where I graduated with a degree in Marine Science from Coastal Carolina University.

I always ran, there wasn't a time where I would go a month without doing a race or a run. In 2014 I found runDisney. I registered for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon but unfortunately due to some unfortunate circumstances, I had to pull out of the race.

I met my now husband Bryan back in 2016 while visiting Hawaii - in a crazy story that will be saved for another time (you can also find it on my blog!). At the time, I was living in the Turks and Caicos, still continuing to run here and there but then I moved to Oahu in 2017.

Running was always there for me. I would have a bad day? I would go for a run. Had a good day? Went for a run. This continued through the years and when we moved to Virginia in 2019, I knew I wanted to continue my running journey. I joined Orangetheory and the rest was history

Bryan liked to run too, so this was just an extra added fun part to our relationship. He would run races with me and cheer me on with anything I wanted to do. A half marathon was on our list to do, and we decided let's try for the Disney World Half!

Then the world shut down. We registered in May for 2021, and then 5 days later we found out we were expecting our rainbow baby, our sweet Emmy. Lucky for us, 2021 was cancelled because I gave birth the week of what would've been Marathon Weekend!

Now it's July of 2021. Bryan and I were driving up to Northern Virginia to see my family. He looks at me dead in the eyes and says, well for Marathon Weekend 2022, why don't we just do all the races... do dopey?! I thought he was kidding. Little did he know he created a monster.

Fast forward to the next year, I wanted to help others, but how? Someone had told me that because I didn't "look" like a coach, I shouldn't be one. And you know what, I almost listened. But then, I didn't.

In 2022 I made a goal to run a half marathon every month, which led to some crazy races but I learned a LOT about myself and training. With all my research, I was getting message after message from friends and family on how to start running. Then it clicked. I could help them.

So in May of 2022, I decided to become a running coach! I had my weekend class in early August and tested and started training clients in 2022. Started with friends and family and now it has started to grow!

In that process, we moved to Northern Virginia where I became an Orangetheory Coach and soon after the Head Coach of my local studio. 3 Dopeys, 4 Marathons, 19 Half Marathons and too many to count 10Ks and 5Ks, I am here to help you in YOUR running journey! Need someone to lean on for training?! I got you.

Excited to go the distance with you!
